whirlwindstormsnowboots

okay, so this weekend has been quite adventurous. I left PHL at 5:25 Friday evening for EUG. Only, due to two different people vomiting on the plane at different times and in different places before take off, we had to wait while airport people cleaned it off. At least I made my connecting flight! Due to time constraints and a snowstorm, I’m just going to post pictures without a narrative. I just realized (as Amber and I sit in the airport on the way to PHL) that my mom didn’t blow out candles on her birthday. Too bad! I won’t have time to finish, but here goes! P.S. Thanks for the boots, E! Have to walk on the snow to get to the plane!

viva las vegas (and eugene, harrisburg, new orleans, and pittsburg)

I just booked Nat’s flight & hotel for Las Vegas in March. His brother Jim and his fiancée Heather are getting married March 19th. I don’t know if Nat has ever been to Vegas. I am jealous. I haven’t and I want to go to the wedding. I have to present in a conference in Harrisburg, PA those days. I think that it is the capital of PA. But don’t quote me on that.

Other exciting trips: I am flying to Eugene next weekend with 4 missions (renew my car registration, get a haircut, pick up Amber, and celebrate my mom’s and the rest of the January birthday crew’s birthdays); New Orleans for a conference in February; and Pittsburg at the end of March.

Wooohooo!! I almost have enought frequent flyer miles for a free ticket.

brrrr…

I am at work while the heater fixer guy is working on fixing the heater, and it is sooooo cold.

I would rather be in bed. With this:

i know that it’s old news, but happy new year!

Nat had the day off, so we had a fun day. We went out to lunch at a place called Johnny Brenda’s on Frankford and Girard. (I went there before with Abe and Beth.)

I got shrimp bruschetta. It was spicy and not great. Nat’s sandwich was good. So was his ketchup dog.

Then we went to the beer store.  What is Pennsylvania Style Beer?

back to the grindstone

Nat picked me up from the airport on Sunday morning and it was wonderful! We went to a WaWa (which we did the last time that he picked me up too.) I hung out a home and napped, before returning to work on Monday. Nat also introduced me to the fine art of Nutella Dipped Gummies. I’m addicted. Seriously.

When I went into work, Iris and Tomasita had decorated my office! Complimenting the work that Mimi and I did a couple of weeks ago and the paint job that I did in October, they did a great job. They finished painting the trim that had been bothering me WAY too much.  The clencher? They painted chalkboard paint above my door!

A couple of days later, Iris brought me a gift. Absolutely amazing. She makes these beautiful dolls and there was one that I loved. I was taking pictures for a folk arts fellowship for her and the next day? She was on my bench!

time to go home.

My sister, mom, and I drove to Portland to take me to the airport to head back to Philly. We had dinner at a McMenamin’s and it was awful. Comically awful. But it was nice company. And then they dragged me to Ikea. Yipes. Like I don’t go to Ikea enough!

eugene-the next few days are blurry…

The day after Christmas, I joined Nick (my soon to be Philly homey), Collin, Rachel, and some other friends at (ironically) the same place that gave me food poisoning. (yay! snert face just came to say “hey”)

Nick shaved his mustache, so Nat wins the mustache contest.

Must have been Thursday or Friday that I saw my parents’ neighbor’s cat, Gizmo. The ugliest cat alive.

I got to hang out with Amberlina and that was about it. Between hanging out at home and being sick, it was a nice, mellow vacation.

eugene-christmas

I started my day with Stella and a stocking. Not a bad way!

Then we headed over to Elsa, Collin, Olivia, and Eliot’s new house. A little strange not to have Christmas at “home” and without Nat. Especially when I was beginning to develop food poisoning.

Collin’s family joined the festivities too!

Rachel played a mean guitar hero.

My mom played Twister. Kimmie down! Kimmie down!

I spent the night there, but after the puking and whatnot, Elsa took me back to Dartmoor at 5am.
