it takes my friends visiting to show me philly.

Nick and Kusi being here has really introduced me to Philly. They came in on Saturday from NYC with Kusi’s sister Ada who lives there. They rode New Today Bus, which goes from Philly to NYC/NYC to Philly every hour for $10 per ride. That’s cheaper than EUG to PDX.

We did the crazy touristy stuff that I haven’t done since I moved here. Like go to Independence Hall (with a fake liberty bell. Nick says that they didn’t have much to offer besides hotdogs and soda.)

Then we went to see the real Liberty Bell (see- it’s capitalized.)

Kusi managed to knit her way through, even though the security guard thought about confiscating her knitting needles. We almost had to sacrifice seeing the most famous nonfunctional bell ever for the sake of knitting. He approved her 3 gauge bamboos, whew.

Kusi was still knitting while we visited Love Park. Nick listed it on his “must sees” for Philadelphia because of its place in skateboarding history. And of course, Kusi was still knitting.

We then drove by the Rocky Steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, but traffic was terrible, so we didn’t stop.

Nick and Kusi discovered (via the Food Detective) that Steve’s Prince of Steaks is the best cheesesteak in Philly. And my Whiz With (onions) and Whiz fries were damn good.

Then Ada, Kusi, and I left Nick at my house while we discovered Honey Rosemary, Pear Cactus, and Black Fig Gelato (at Capogiro’s) before I dropped them off at the bus station.

Of course Kusi was still knitting.

I got the Marshmallow and the Ciocolatta. mmmmmmmmm.

Kusi got the Pear/Cactus and the Mojito.

It was fun to meet Ada but sad to say goodbye to her and Kusi.

After I dropped them off, I went to work for a bit and then met Nick at home. We- ironically- watched Rocky II (Philadelphia’s finest).

Here’s Rocky in the Italian Market.

Here’s Rocky’s triumph over the Museum steps.

okay, back to Eugene (even if it’s a week old!)

I flew to Eugene last weekend for a wedding. It was hard to see my people and then to leave the next day.

We did get to have a Sunday Dinner together. For dessert my mom made abelskivvers.

But then we discovered that I make better abelskivvers.

I got to visit familiar places.

And familiar faces.

My friend Kelli got married. We worked together at the UO and it was great to see her and some of the other usual subjects again.

Eliot was helping me pick out shoes…

I picked the red ones.

The wedding was fun. I got to see Andrea too. It was a fall theme. Kelli looked great.

I wore my cute new Banana Republic dress.

erg. i tried!

after locking myself out of work and home and having to drive into Philadelphia’s Center City to pick up Nat’s keys, I finally got home to update my blog. I pulled out my camera full of treasures and made myself nice and cozy to relax, upload my pictures, and share my adventures. Only to discover that i left not one, but both of my camera cords at work. i probably will have to wait until saturday to update now. Because I will be trĂ©s busy with this:
